PNG REDD+ Team strengthening links between Projects

The PNG Climate Change and Development Authority’s Senior Management, Senior Officers and Project Heads/Officers recently met at the REDD+ Conference Room at the CCDA Headquarters, Dynasty Tower to discuss links between projects and additional finance options for REDD+ and NDC. General Manager REDD+ and Mitigation Ms. Gwen Sissiou said this is part of CCDA’s ongoing work to develop and finalize REDD+ Finance and Investment Plan. The session was an opportunity to provide updates and have discussions on current climate finance work within CCDA, its linkages with existing and potential project activities, and a focus on opportunities arising out of action on REDD+ (Reduced Emmission from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) within PNG. The office is optimistic of REDD+ implementation delivering emmission reductions. Ms Sissiou further said, “This is an emerging area and as the lead climate change agency we have to put more effort into understanding and providing good options and advise for government on”. Despite the challenges ahead, CCDA will certainly work towards ironing this out and implement some quality assurance in reviewing its progress and methodologies and certainly applying lessons learned.
